Back to the Past: Resident Evil

When I was a kid gaming for me was a fun experience. No stress or effort was really needed. I owned a Sega Megadrive as my first console and all the games I played were arcade style games that you didn’t need to sit at for ages or put much effort in. I was a casual gamer playing for maybe one hour a day at most. That all changed in 1998. On my eighth birthday my parents got me the Sony Playstation Dual Shock version. I was blown away by the graphics and gameplay but was also hit with games that had difficulty I had never experienced before. To get more games however I couldn’t buy them as I was eight and only recieved a tiny amount of pocket money a week. I had to rent them. Luckily there was a rental store just around the corner from where I lived. On my first trip to the rental shop I saw Resident Evil and that night changed my view on games forever. Back To The Past: Rise of Nations

Rise of Nations Gameplay!

This week’s Back To The Past focuses on the PC game Rise of Nations. Since it was released on May 23rd ,2003 Rise of Nations has been a fun and entertaining game to play. It has won awards such as PC Gamer’s 2003 Game of the Year Award and many more. Rise of Nations is a single and multiplayer war game that has many different game types such as my favorite Conquest and other like World Wonder building. You can chose to have your own campaign to conquer the world or just have a Quick Battle where you can set up your own settings and place one small game. Rise of Nations is influenced by the real world as you can play as many different nations and in many different time periods ranging from the Ancient Age to the Information Age. With the expansion Thrones and Patriots Rise of Nations can be bought for twenty dollars at your usual retailer. To find out more about this game visit it’s website by clicking here!

Back to the Past: Halo Combat Evolved

This weeks Back to the Past focuses on the original Xbox game Halo Combat Evolved. Halo CE was released November 15th, 2001 for the Xbox, Mac OS X, and Windows platforms. Halo was developed by the company Bungie under the publishing of Microsoft Game Studios being the launch title for the Xbox. I cracked open my copy of Halo Combat Evolved today and ran through the first level on legendary. it wasn’t necessarily difficult as compared to the newer popular titles like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Halo Reach. You have to realize that older generation games didn’t think about factors in realism like recoil and bullets penetrating walls. You may have gotten used to the current video game standards that we have today so if you play the first Halo for example then you can expect some serious differences in the feel of gameplay. I wonder what differences will be present in the remake of Halo: CE. I honestly don’t think there is no point to the remake but maybe it will be worth our money!
